ACT NOW: SAVE THE OCTOPUS, END THE TRAPS
Help us raise €200,000 by World Octopus Day, October 8th, to save octopuses and fight for lasting protection.
Illegal Octopus Traps Recovered
Octopuses Released
Right now, thousands of plastic octopus traps remain hidden beneath the waters of northern Greece, putting the future of octopuses in these waters at risk.
Octopuses are intelligent, sentient animals that feel pain and distress. Yet hundreds of thousands are being taken during the most vulnerable stages of their lives.
Juvenile octopuses are killed before they have the chance to grow and reproduce. Females sheltering inside traps can be taken along with the thousands of eggs they are guarding, ending the next generation before it has the chance to hatch.
Over the past three years, supporters like you have helped remove tens of thousands of traps. Sea Shepherd crew is back in Greek waters right now, working alongside the Greek authorities to continue this work, but we cannot do it without your support.
WE NEED TO RAISE €200,000. HERE’S WHAT YOUR DONATION MAKES POSSIBLE.
Raising €200,000 will help keep our ship and crew at sea until October, searching for hidden lines, hauling traps from the seabed, checking every one for life and releasing the octopuses found inside, day after day. It will also fund our work to gather evidence and push for lasting legal protection.
One trap removed. One deadly cycle ended. One more octopus given the chance to survive.
HELP US PROTECT THE OCTOPUS POPULATION BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
Our crew is not only removing traps but also gathering the evidence needed to expose the full scale of the damage and fight for lasting protection.
By building the scientific case, we can show how this relentless fishing is affecting the octopus population and push authorities for stronger protections.
Your donation makes both parts of this mission possible: saving octopuses today and fighting to protect their population for generations to come.
Act now. Help us save the octopus.
