Illegal Octopus Traps Recovered

55440

Meters of Deadly Line Removed

Right now, hundreds of thousands of illegal octopus traps are hidden below the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea—killing marine life, destroying habitats, and pushing octopus populations toward collapse.

Every day we wait, more octopuses die—many of them females carrying thousands of unborn eggs. Every illegal trap claims lives today and robs the ocean of future generations.

Our Mission: Remove Every Illegal Trap by World Octopus Day — October 8th

Last year, we pulled 6,500 illegal traps out of the sea, saving countless lives. This year, in cooperation with the Greek authorities, we launched our most ambitious campaign yet: smashing last year’s record by removing every illegal trap we can find.

We’re moving faster, averaging over 800 illegal traps and 8 kilometers of deadly line removed every day we are at sea.

And we won’t stop until every last illegal trap is gone.

Your Donation Funds Direct Action

Your support keeps our ships at sea and our crew on deck, doing the filthy, backbreaking work of hauling up illegal traps by hand, inspecting each one for trapped marine life, and clearing the sea of deadly gear.

Here’s what your donation achieves:

Your donation also helps us recover toxic plastic containers used as illegal flotation devices—polluting the sea and threatening marine life.

We have until October 8th—World Octopus Day—to hit our target and empty the sea of these illegal traps.
